About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a Premier League clash at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers played out a goalless draw. The result was not entirely unexpected given both teams' recent form and league standings. Nottingham Forest, who made three changes to their lineup, brought in Neco Williams (GAP +2.1%), Omari Hutchinson (GAP -3.2%), and Lorenzo Lucca, while Nicolás Domínguez, Igor Jesus, and Zach Abbott were left out. Wolverhampton Wanderers made two changes, introducing Rodrigo Gomes (GAP -2.8%) and Ladislav Krejčí (GAP -2.2%), with Matt Doherty and Hwang Hee-chan missing out. The match was characterized by a lack of clear-cut chances, with both defenses holding firm. Nottingham Forest's Ola Aina (GAP +3.2%) and Nikola Milenković (GAP +1.9%) were particularly effective in keeping Wolverhampton's attackers at bay. On the other side, Wolverhampton's goalkeeper Jose Sa (GAP -1.0%) was solid when called upon, ensuring his side left with a point. Despite the absence of goals, the game was not without its moments. Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White (GAP +2.0%) was lively in midfield, trying to create opportunities for his team. However, the final pass often lacked precision, and the Wolves' defense, led by Santi Bueno (GAP -1.0%), managed to neutralize any potential threats. The draw leaves Nottingham Forest in a mid-table position, maintaining their recent unbeaten run. Wolverhampton Wanderers, meanwhile, will be content with the point away from home, as they continue to navigate a challenging season with several key players sidelined due to injuries. Post-match reactions highlighted the defensive solidity of both teams, with fans and pundits acknowledging the disciplined performances. The result keeps both teams in a stable position in the league, with Nottingham Forest looking to build on their defensive strengths and Wolverhampton aiming to improve their attacking output in upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
